I’m a little slow on the info (hey I’m on vacation, don’t get your panties in a bunch), but the Star Wars Galaxies game has finally set a release date of April 15, 2003. Now we have two things to, um, look forward to on that date… *shudder*. For once I may actually get my taxes done before the day they are due.

Looks like they are going to be shooting for January for Beta 3 testing (*crosses fingers about getting invited*). The long wait aside, April 15 I think is a good date, though (I was actually predicting later). Sony will have a lot of weight on their shoulders to make this a successful launch. If they pull off what they are intending this game to be about, this truly will be a next step in MMORPG’s, adding layers of content for character growth that do not involve repeatedly slaying mobs. This will also likely be the largest MMORPG launch ever to date, so lets hope they have all their ducks in a row for day one, or it’s going to be one hell of a bumpy ride. I’d like to see this game pull it off, though, because I think it will have the depth that I am (among many others) looking for.

Plus, waiting until April 15 for release will give me ample time to get bored with Asheron’s Call 2.
