Playing God
Everyone seems to want to have their power trip, trying to play God. A religious group, called Raelians, has claimed to have created the first human clone. I’m highly skeptical that this is actually a valid claim, but valid or not, I can see no good coming from it.
This group, the Raelians, even openly admit their interests in cloning are immortality. “It’s a good step, but my ultimate goal is to give humanity eternal life through cloning,” says Rael, the leader of this religious sect. As much as the fantasy of immortality sometimes seems desirable, I can’t see good coming out of it, no matter what your beliefs are. You want to see human values, what’s left of them, go down the tubes fast…. introduce immortality.
In my opinion, though, this is a publicity stunt to boost the number of followers, and has little, if any, scientific reality to it. After all, Rael is a direct decendent of aliens, right? Yea… riiiiiight.
