Cursed Bones (-5)
What a terrible AD&D session last night. Playing in my weekly game, with a party of level 5 characters, we took on some frog-like creatures and some creature that looked like an evil experiment gone horribly wrong (imagine a minotaur with a horribly bloated cyclops head with bad teeth.) Right off the bat, our ranger/wizard and our archer get held for 3 rounds, leaving the rest of us to try to mop up the froggies. My druid, thinking he’s gonna pick up the slack, summons a nice big Dire Bat…. who proceeds to whiff on EVERY SINGLE attack except for his last one (which he actually managed to get a critical hit for massive damage before being sucked back into his own realm,) but that was after no less than 7 misses. Through the entire night, I only once rolled an attack roll (d20) that was a double digit figure, not to mention failing every single saving throw I had so when we took on the experiment gone wrong, I could do nothing but stand there watching everyone else.
Luck in the rest of the party wasn’t a whole lot better with our rogue breaking his bow (critical fumble) and our ranger knocking himself silly for 2 more rounds (critical fumble.) Fortunately, no one died, but instead of a well organized adventuring party, we looked more like a disograngized group of circus clowns that just happened to get lucky enough to get the froggies to stumble onto our swords. Time to lick our wounds, hang our heads in shame, and, oh…. loot the crap outta them froggies and their lair.
